Hot Buttered Applesauce

Hot Buttered ApplesauceĀ is as good as it sounds. It's the caramel apple sweetness of applesauce combined with the butteriness of apple pie.

Ingredients
  

  • 12 Apples I like a mix of fuji and Granny Smith
  • 2 cups filtered water
  • ½ cup coconut sugar

For serving

  • grass-fed butter
  • cinnamon ceylon is my favorite
  • a sprinkle of coconut sugar maple syrup, date syrup, honey, or raw sugar

Instructions
 

  • Core, peel, and cut the apples into chunks. Place the apples in a large pot and add the water.
  • Bring to a slow simmer over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and cover.
    Simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the applesauce is thick and the apples are tender, break up any chunks left with a wooden spoon or spatula.
  • Serve the applesauce hot, topped with butter and cinnamon.
    You can also sweeten it more with coconut sugar, maple syrup, date syrup, raw sugar, or honey!
