Equipment

  • 1 crock pot or slow cooker

Ingredients

For the Cider

  • 8-10 apples, cored and quartered I like to use a variety of gala, Granny Smith, and honey crisp
  • 1 large naval orange quartered
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 teaspoons whole cloves
  • 2 star anise
  • ⅓-⅔ cup coconut sugar or raw honey
  • 8 cups filtered water

To Serve

  • ½ cup whole fresh cranberries
  • 1 clementine or orange sliced into rounds

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients for the cider into a crockpot. Stir and cover with lid. Cook on low for 8-10 hours. Then mash the fruit with a potato masher or wooden spoons.
  • Strain the apples and oranges into a sieve with a large bowl underneath to contain the cider.
Press the fruit gently to extract the juices. *I like to strain the cider another time after removing the fruit to make the consistency just right.*
  • Pour the cider back into the crock pot and taste for sweetness.
Add more coconut sugar to sweeten to your taste.
  • Add the cranberries and orange slices and serve hot!
You can keep the cider in the crock pot on warm mode. Perfect for cold-weather gatherings!
